About Us

History

Caldicot Rangers were a schoolboy football club, which evolved into organisers of football trips in the South West of England and South Wales. With around 40 trips every single season, to several different grounds, they established the reputation for offering the finest trips, for the most reasonable prices. They became an official Liverpool Supporters Club branch in 2001 and enjoyed a lot of exciting football matches at home and abroad.

The instigator of this hugely successful operation and its lifeblood from founding up to the present time was the late Mike Nicks who tragically passed away in May 2013 leaving a huge void in the lives of his many friends and fellow supporters who he did so much to help fulfil their dreams of watching Liverpool play. As a mark of respect the members attending the last game of the 2012/13 season took a banner into the ground in Mike’s honour.

Following Mike’s untimely death, it became evident that many of the long standing members of the branch were committed to continuing the good work that Mike was dedicated to and in part as a tribute to his legacy, a new club has been formed, initially to continue trips on a smaller scale and focused on home Premier League matches.

Caldicot & Gloucester OLSC

A new name to reflect the increasing number of members from Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean and a new structure for the 2013/14 season.  The new committee was formed on 29th June 2013 and the club was officially accepted as a branch by the Official Liverpool Supporters Club on 1st July 2013. This website was launched in late July 2013 and the new club’s first trip to Anfield will take place on Saturday 17th August for the match v Stoke City.

The Committee

Chairman: Tom Forrester

Born and brought up in Liverpool.  As a boy followed the Reds in late Shanks and Paisley eras despite regular floggings from blue nosed siblings. Those were the days (perhaps mythological) when we always won 3-1 and Keegan, Toshack and Heighway bagged the goals.  When not teaching scouse as a foreign language in Cheltenham, I am a frequent flyer to Anfield via the Clubmoor Pub.

Branch Secretary: Ian Kane

Born in Norris Green L11 just a stones throw from Anfield. Started watching The Reds in the early 70′s, initially standing in the Boys Pen before graduating to become a Kopite and in latter years an Anny Roader. I’m a veteran of 1 European Cup Final, 6 FA Cups and 5 League Cups. So many heroes over the years but The King has to take the mantle as being the greatest. Pre-match you’ll normally find me in the Clubmoor drinking a pint of dark stuff never too far from my match day partner and the other love in my life, my wife Julie.

Treasurer: Graham Stonadge

First introduction to football was during 12 years of exile in the S.Wales valleys & began following the Reds when my then idol John Toshack moved to Anfield. I chose to move to Liverpool for further education (not just academic!) & revelled in the late 70’s & early 80’s successes. Following a period of only being able to attend southern based away games recent years have seen the whole family become regular travellers on the Colefordian express.

The new committee intends to continue to work with the club’s long standing partners at Willetts Coaches and The Clubmoor pub in Liverpool.

What does Caldicot & Gloucester Official Liverpool Supporters Club do?

We operate all inclusive football trips to Liverpool home Premier League matches & provide a forum for the many hundreds of Liverpool fans in South East Wales & South West England to share their views and opinions on all things LFC.

We use executive coaches, provided by Willets Coaches (01594 810080) e-mail willetts-coaches@live.com all of which will usually have a toilet, refreshments and a video on board, and we have an established and professional relationship with all of our Drivers. The majority of the trips will be accompanied by one of our club officials, who will help to make the journey as enjoyable and relaxed as possible.

For many of the members an integral part of the trips that we run is our regular visit to The Elm House on Townsend Lane where our friendly  landlady Jeanette always has a warm welcome awaiting.

There is an exclusive ‘members area’ of this website where details will be available of last minute ticket opportunities, special discounted merchandise and other items of interest along with a fans forum where views can be shared about anything related to LFC, photos can be posted etc.
